Deligne-Lustig representations as (2-)categorical trace of Frobenius

We will show how to recover the construction of Deligne-Lustig representations by considering the trace of Frobenius on categorical G- representations. We will give a streamlined proof of the fact that the Deligne-Lustig functor does not depend on the choice of a parabolic *at the level of characters*. This is a joint work with N. Rozenblyum and Y. Varshavsky.
